Do You Actually Need an App for Your Business?

Most small businesses don’t need an app, they need a good website. Here’s the honest way to tell which one you actually need.

We get asked for "an app" more often than businesses actually need one. Here is the honest version of that conversation.

When a website is enough

If customers only look you up occasionally, to check opening hours, get in touch, or see your work, a fast website does that job better than an app. Nobody downloads an app for a business they visit twice a year.

When an app earns its place

  • Customers book or order from you regularly, not just once
  • Push notifications for offers, reminders, or updates would genuinely help
  • You want a home-screen presence, not just a bookmarked tab
  • Your team needs a private tool, job sheets, stock checks, site inspections

Customer-facing vs internal

A customer-facing app goes through the App Store and Google Play, so it needs a bit more polish and a proper submission process. An internal tool for your own team can skip all of that, no store review, deployed straight to your staff’s devices.

What it costs

A focused, single-purpose app starts from £499. That is one clear job done well, not a bloated platform with every feature you might one day want.
