Offboarding

Leaving? Let's make it painless.

You own your work. That has always been the deal, and it does not change on the way out. Tell us what you need and we will package up your code, content, media and domain and hand the lot over.

No retention call. No thirty day cooling off period designed to change your mind. Exporting your data never costs you a penny.

Data export

Free

Always, with no exceptions. We never charge you to get your own information back.

On managed hosting, a flat £50 covers packaging your site files, as set out in your hosting agreement.

Timeline

30 days

The UK GDPR limit, counted from the point we verify you. Most handovers land in 5 to 7 business days.

Formats

Open

Git repositories, SQL dumps, JSON and original media. Nothing proprietary, nothing locked.

Delivered to

You

The account holder, not a third party. You are free to pass it straight on to whoever you like.

How it works

Five steps, and you are out

01

You tell us

Fill in the form below. Pick exactly what you want handed over, when you need it, and how you would prefer us to verify you.

02

We acknowledge

An automatic confirmation lands immediately, and a real person comes back to you within 2 business days. Nothing is switched off in the meantime.

03

We verify it's you

Usually a reply from your account email or a call back on the number we hold. Higher risk requests, like a domain transfer, may need a little more.

04

We package it up

Everything you asked for, in open formats, with a short written guide to what each part is and where it goes.

05

You confirm, then we clean up

Once you have confirmed you have everything, we retire what we hold, keeping only the invoice and contract records we are legally required to keep.

Identity checks

Why we may ask you to prove it's you

Your export is not just your files. It can contain personal data about your own customers: enquiries, orders, mailing lists, account records. Handing that to the wrong person would be a data breach, and you would be the one answering for it.

So where there is any genuine doubt about who is asking, we check first. UK GDPR both permits and expects this. The clock on your request pauses while we wait, and restarts the moment you confirm.

What we will ask for

  • A reply from the email address already on your account, or a call back on the number we hold.
  • For higher risk requests, such as a domain transfer or a request from an address we do not recognise: a short video call, or documentary evidence such as a Companies House officer check.
  • Written authority from the account holder, if you are asking on their behalf.

What we will never ask for

  • A password, for any account, ever.
  • Card details, bank details, or payment of any kind to release your data.
  • More identity evidence than the request actually warrants. We ask for the least that settles it, and delete it once the check is done.

Not happy with how we handle your data or your request? You can raise it with us through our complaints procedure, and you always have the right to complain to the Information Commissioner's Office. Neither one delays your handover.

Request a handover

Start your handover

Four short steps. Nothing is actioned until we have confirmed who you are, and nothing is deleted until you tell us you have everything.

Who are we handing over to?

We match these details against the account before anything is released.

Ideally the address on the account. If it differs, tell us why at step 2.

Questions

The things people ask on the way out

One last thing

If you are leaving because something went wrong, we would rather hear it than not. It will not change how quickly your export happens, and it will not be argued with. It just helps us not repeat it.

Thanks for the work we did together. Genuinely, good luck with what's next.
